Study & Learning
|
Education deepens our faith and strengthens our worship and service. Our classes for all ages on Sunday mornings encourage us to explore the intersections between life and faith, with lively discussion, varied approaches to learning, and a solid grounding in Biblical studies and Reformed theology. |

Lent is a time of reflection. Seminarians at Luther Seminary have created a devotional guide, which is being led by LNPC member Cyndi Wunder. Adult Education - Education classes will meet only on those weekends when Worship is on Sundays. (1st & 3rd weekends)
Discussions centered around Lectionary passages will again guide our mornings. The "Lectionary" are scriptures suggested for each week and often the foundation of preaching. They include passages from (generally one of each) the Old Testament, the Psalms, the Gospel, and the Epistles.
Revised Common Lectionary readings for Sunday, January 17, 2010, the Second Sunday in Ordinary Time (Year C)
On weeks that thre is not a special topic, Adult class explores the weekly lectionary passages. This study deepens our knowledge of scripture, opens up our faith, and enriches our worship, where we subsequently encounter the same scripture passages in different ways. The 'lectionary' is a collection of readings, generally consistent between Christian denominations, intended to provide an overview of the Bible. Each week, there are readings from the Old and New Testaments, the Psalms, and the Gospels.
Older elementary and junior high youth are currently on hiatus. High school youth's participation is welcomed in the adult class on Sunday mornings. The fourth Wednesday of many months during the year is devoted to study for the Presbyterian Women of LNPC. The group uses the Bible Study of Presbyterian Women|PC(USA). The All-Church Retreat at Presbyterian Clearwater Forest near Garrison, MN, is an intergenerational weekend of worship, fellowship, learning and fun! Topics in recent years have included the Christian Mystics, Images of God, Creativity and Community. The next retreat will be held November 20-22, 2009, and will focus on an exploration of Sabbath-time.
Lake Nokomis is in a season of change, learning and growth. We are becoming an intergenerational community in all aspects of our worship, education and ministry. We value diversity and believe that we are all called and equipped to share in God's purposes. When those in different stages of life, with different gifts and needs worship, play, work and learn together, we experience the Body of Christ in rich and full ways. We are at the start of an exciting journey, committed to becoming a congregation that integrates children and youth fully into the life of the church. To learn more about this exciting venture, check out "The Hospitality Project."
